The tagline sums up what this blog is about. Cincinnati Babyhead (CB) loves film and music and he wants to get the word out on some of his favorites. Maybe you’ll dig them as much as he does!

Thanks OB. I checked out your stuff. Man lots to look at. Looking forward to spending some time on your takes. It has definitely caught my attention. I’ll be leaving some comments. Like Woody Guthrie said “There’s two kinds of music, good and bad. If it moves me, CB likes it. Take it cool and we’ll talk later. CB

CB watched “Our Man Flint” today and came over to check if you had a review out on it. NOT what’s up with that? Or did I just miss it?
LikeLiked by 1 person
I love ‘Flint’. James Coburn is a CB kinda actor. Plus Lee J Cobb is in it, another great actor. You rattled my cage on that one DCW. I’ll be revisiting that one for sure. Thanks.

I know your up there in “Canuck” territory but I watched it here in California on one of the “Starzs” channels and it is showing again tomorrow here.

CB Injuries, it has come out that Thornton had torn ACL and MCL, Marleau had a broken thumb. Hertl a broken foot that made him miss the last regular season game. And we know it couldn’t have been easy for Logan Couture to play with his face and mouth so mangled. Somewhere I read he has at least eight teeth that need replacing after that puck hit him in the mouth. Plus Oilers must not be that bad after beating Anaheim last night 5-3

your absolutely right. They got nailed with bad injuries. One or two you can live with but not that many. I want to see Thorton (and rest of the guys) get a cup . Oilers are for real. Big, tough, hungry, skilled and they have a real good goalie. recipe for success. Good chat.

I’m an old sports guy. Still keep my toe in the scene. Indians scooped Edwin from the Jays. Good pick up. I seen you said you had a video tab. Films? Yeah I will have a good look at your takes for sure.

No video tab … but will have one soon … but not videos I’ve made. Many of my posts incorporate YouTube videos, so sometime soon I will have a Video tab of some of my favs over a variety of topics.

I’m sitting on my roof now. All sorts of Ontario stuff is going through my head. I see your fella has a take site. I’ll check mit out.

I seen your from my neck of the woods. Your like of old movies is an Over the Rhine thing for sure and im gonna guess your a boomer to.
Im a big fan of the Film Noir type and all those movies just before and after WW11
I read a bunch of your reviews on movies and I most agree with yall.
I looked but did nt see you review Casablanca. I watched that movie a lot. While Im not always a Bogart fan, he was the right guy to play the part.
I like to hear from you.

Thanks for dropping by Need Xray. That’s one cool name. “My neck of the woods”. Then you are a lucky individual.
If you look close NX you will find ‘Casablanca’ deep in the archives. Let me know what you think? See ya in “the woods”.

Hi- Came up with an idea and was wondering if you’d be interested in playing. A sports like draft- of albums- I am looking to get 10 people involved who are really into music- and have a ten round draft. Contracting some people to see if they have an interest. I am looking at getting it organized- and started by say July 1. Will come up with a few rules- one that comes to mind- no greatest hits box sets can be taken- studio albums only. Let me know if you are interested. Of course I will probably be taking a bunch of Osmond albums as my selections! Hans

Sure I’d be interested. Thing is it’s really hard for me to pick favorites (unless it’s the Osmonds) if that’s the case. The whole CB thing is one big favorite. Lets give it a whirl and see what happens. Thanks Hans.

Great- looking to get it going on July 1- will get you the details as they come along. One thing I have is- you can’t pick greatest hits or best of’s or box sets.

I will follow the rules you set down.

CB, I know you are a fan of Larry McMurtry. If you haven’t read these books, I would suggest them to you. Streets Of Laredo, Telegraph Days, and Sin Killer. All are western and set in the late 1800s, like Lonesome Dove. Keep up the good reviews.

I’m making my way through them Chronologically. I will reread a few I’ve read already. The only one out of the ones you mention that i have’t read is ‘Telegraph Days’. Just finished ‘Leaving Cheyenne’. ‘Picture Show’ is up next.
Reading Elmore Leonards ‘The Tonto Women’ right now. Shorts stories. Not one bad one. Amazing how these guys can weave a story, Thanks Phil.

I like writers with small vocabularies. Few words economically used to greatest effect. McMurtry and Elmore Leonard followed this simple yet elegant blueprint as established by Hemingway and Steinbeck.

Hey CB
UHF is one of my favorite groups. I think they put out two albums.
UHF is Shari Ulrich, Don Henderson and Roy Forbes. All acoustic, guitars, mandolin, fiddle. No percussion.
Always been a huge Shari Ulrich fan, with and without Hometown Band. Roy Forbes aka BIM is solidly in my top 10 favorite musicians.
