Hey. Just had to pop back into town and grab a few supplies. Smokes, booze, canned beans, candy bars, potato chips, comics. Some other essentials (and some secret shit). While I was picking up these things I popped over to Tony’s place (Mumbling About) and tuned into his favorite live music albums. Check them out. Got me thinking about how much I love live music.
Here is some “live ” music by two of the best in my book. I was weened on these two guys. All sorts of music moves me and that’s what it’s all about. Drop Steve Winwood into Santana’s band and you get this. They both hooked me on jams a long time ago. Winwood with Traffic and Carlos with Santana. If you have seven minutes treat yourself to some great music played by some people that know how to do it. No need for me to explain why I dig it. Catch that groove and hang on. They do justice to this fantastic Timmy Thomas tune.
CB loves good music and this is some of that. It moves the fisherman.
Take care folks. Hope you’re all doing fine.
Later. Gotta let the cat out.
Oh yah. Thanks to Doc (Music Enthusiast) and Princess Falda for tech support and inspiration.

Very neat, CB. I love this tune, Winwood, Santana and their live rendition. Thanks for sharing!
Hope all is well and you’re enjoying the holiday season.

I figured you’d be on this one with both the Carlos guitar sound and Winwood’s great organ and vocal work.
Take it cool on the holidays.

Speaking of live music, if you haven’t already seen it, check this out: Pink Floyd live at the Hollywood Bowl in 1972, performing the “Dark Side of the Moon” album in its entirety – obviously, before it was officially released. It’s only the audio, but I still find it interesting. Multiple gigs of their ‘72 concert tour are also available on Apple Music and other streaming platforms!

Good find. I knew they had performed it or bits of it before the album came out. I’ll have to check this out

According to this Rolling Stone story I briefly glanced at last night and now can no longer access, the publication of the “Dark Side of the Moon” concerts from ’72 has something to do with maintaining copyrights to the music. Strange thing but good for fans!

Unfortunately, I can’t read it either. But I’ve heard of this copyright thing before. It’s why Dylam has been officially releasing some of his albums that had only been bootlegged.

Like i said to Christian I’m listening right now.

Thanks Christian. Im listening to it right now. This was when I was heavy into the band. ‘Live At Pompeii’ was an early intro to Floyds music live. I still revisit often. Gillmor wigging out on ‘Echoes’ is a favorite music moment for me.

Obviously, not quite as smooth as the song versions on the “Dark Side of the Moon” album, but the rawer sound gives the tunes an intriguing edge.

Yeah I’m digging it. Like the Traffic, Santana thing Floyd would do extended jams. I gravitate to it.

Thanks Neil. Ive popped in on you a few times just didnt leave a comment. Is that sort of what they call “creeping you”?
Yeah, when I have to come back for supplies and get bit by some inspiration I’ll mouth off. Good to hear from you fella.

Well, well, well, well, well. Look who the wind blew back in. Can it be C to the B? On a break from catching bass up in the Great White North. Cool tune. I had no idea Winwood and Carlos even knew each other.

Awesome match CB…they go together great dude.
I saw Santana and Clapton a few weeks apart and then a week later saw Robin Trower…it was a guitar summer to remember. I’ve never seen Winwood though…would love to.

This whole music thing for me (you) is about the stuff that moves us. That old Santana/Traffic has a hold on me. In my bones. Many an hour listening to both. Id have to give the edge to Winwood because Traffic and later bands got a lot of my listening time. Steve must have a tap to the fountain of youth.

I was listening to Marcia Griffiths yesterday, pretty sure I picked her up from you. To many more to mention. Thanks Queen. Ill pop over and see what kind of shenanigans’ you’ve been up to.

😆 Good to hear you’re listening to Marcia Griffiths Queen of Reggae. I’ve featured her a few times…thinking I must do another Here Come The Girls. My big achievement/memory for 2022 was interviewing Melba Moore during the Margate Soul Festival (20th Anniversary of the Festival) Melba Moore was easy to get on with and a very gracious woman. She has earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. There are two shows featuring her music.

Cool on the Melba thing. A meeting of a couple “gracious” women.

Super.
Winwood has always been a generous collaborator. When I saw him open for Steely Dan, he joined them at the end for a brilliant version of ‘Pretzel Logic’.
As with so many things, CB, I’m totes with you on live albums.
