Man do I like this version of Bob’s song. Rage gives it the against the machine treatment. There are bands that bring energy and passion to their music but none more that these guys. I did another cover they did (Tom Joad) and they bring the same passion to Maggie’s Farm and totally catch the vibe. They play it like they mean it
I like all kinds of music but I do like it loud and aggressive like it’s done here by Rage. It tells me I’m not getting too old and soft to still enjoy this kinda stuff. I don’t have to force myself to like this sound it’s there no problem. I wonder what Dylan’s folk followers think of this one? Oh yeah I love the bass and drum combo of Commerford and Wilk. Zack and Tom just finish it off. What a band.
This is one song off a really good album (Renegades). Check it out.
“Well he puts his cigar out in your face just for kicks”
‘Everybody says she’s the brains behind Pa”
That photo is great! I like this band but can generally only handle a couple of tracks at a time. I used to have the covers album and Maggie’s Farm was one of my favourite tracks.

I get a crave for their music. I have a pretty wide range of listens and this band hits the spot when I feel it. The covers album (Mine is missing) is a good one. Love their take on this cut.

They do have an aggressive edge. They’re just pissed off at Maggie and her people. I could see Bob on stage strumming with this one. Maybe cracking half a smile.

I love what they did with Springsteen’s ‘Tom Joad’. They have an edge but it’s focused and well played. Loud but well played. They put some emotion and passion onto it for sure. Good music to get the ya yas out. Thanks for dropping by.

I didn’t care for RATM back then, but like Jim S, I’ve since come to appreciate their music. Sometimes we just need to hear a bit of aggressive music that kicks some ass!

Totally get it. I have been like that with a few musicians/bands. Neil Young was one. Totally agree on the last sentence. It’s funny, if Ive been away from home for awhile, when I get back I really dig that kind of music.
(I was over to your site last week. Didnt drop a comment but will be back again later)

I’ll be honest, CB… this is one I haven’t heard in the longest time. I was a big fan back when I was a youngster… kicking against the pricks while listening to them at full volume. Good times. Anyhoo, I never clicked with Renegades for one reason or another, but hearing this now I’m thinking maybe I was maybe I’ll need to dig out the CD tomorrow.

I had the ‘Joad’ cut on something else so I was primed. Also love the ‘Kick Out The Jams’ cover. I need a fix of this kinda energy from time to time.

Tom Joad is amazing. I had the CD and video set way back and I was awfy pleased that it found a home on Renegades. I’m currently listening to the album and I definitely appreciate it more now.
(I think Nebraska is gonna be quite the discussion).

It’s like hockey overload. Ive been tuning in here and there (Keeping an eye on the Jays at the same time). Boston and the Caps are doing it big time. All the series are. Just so much my brain can take. Being a Leafs guy at least your focused on one team for the most part. Ill tune in today for sure.
I have one thought. Do the Canucks brain trust watch these games because they are no where near that caliber except in goal.

Heck no, I’m focussed on them all, I watch what I can of any of it. I am a Leaf fan, sure, but I’ve been all over everything about this whole season.
The Canucks have some (coughcough a lot of) work to do. ‘The Hockey Guy’ on YT had some great stuff to say about all that, he’s a Canucks fan.

Im a hockey fan so I would be interested on another take other than the local people who kind of dance around. Im not about getting nasty but the team is a long ways away from being in the same league as the top guns.
YT? Where would I find that take Books?
4 hours and counting. We will see how things shake out. Interesting as heck.

Just look up The Hockey Guy on YT, he’s made a ton of videos about Vancouver. He also talks about them in every game review, and often in his news of the day videos. It’s a cumulative thing. I subbed his channel ages ago, love it. He likes all teams, though he cheers for Vancouver, Boston and Dallas (I know) he never lets that get in the way of what actually happened. His channel os my first source for hockey news. He’s in Abbotsford.

Yeah that kind of took the wind out of the game. More for the Leafs. The thing about that series that’s scary for Toronto is Price. You dont need to score many when the goaltending is that good. Interesting stuff

Yeh, of course. If you have time search ‘son cubano música calles Havana’ and enjoy. The music ‘son cubano’ on the streets and bars is second to none when it comes to Latin music, at least for me. I could listen to it all day.

Maybe you mixed the “Latin music’ in the Buena Vista take or I read it somewhere else. I get a lot of common ground from the folks I read. But I think it was you who was talking about it earlier. I have always liked it but am really enjoying it as I get older.

I have the same disposition. It’s not something I would have been predisposed to as a younger self, but the more I grow older and uglier, I can’t help but admire the authenticity of seeing people on the street just killing it communicating their culture through music. They seem to do it better than I have heard here. It’s the least commercial music here as well, which makes me like it more. These people have suffered more than most and only have the music to enrich their lives to sustain them. But it’s bloody marvelous to see them pouring it out and sounds awesome. Lol

I used to listen to RATM a fair bit – haven’t done for some time, perhaps I’ve mellowed too much; their righteous anger doesn’t fit with sitting in a comfy, well padded chair with my feet up counting piles of cash. I find something this angry makes it hard to focus and lose count around the second thousand
There’s a lot of Dylan’s early protest-vibe stuff that could use a good raged take and they chose a belter here. There’s a lot of good takes on that Renegades album (even if their Ghost of Tom Joad never cut it for me)

Dylan’s music is made to play loud (Hendrix) with his anti authoritarian lyrics fit it perfect. I would bet anything he likes it…many of his songs fit this. I like the aggression and in your face sound of it.
