A Laurel and Hardy handshake (I stole that from Mel Brooks) to all you folks that I exchange music, film, humor and other miscellaneous stuff with. You know who you are. This is a little something I do that I get enjoyment out of. CB does not put time into things that bore the shit out of him, piss him off, hurt his brain etc. I think you get the drift.
All of you have supplied me with a bunch of new tunes, direction in my music listening, reminded me of music that I have neglected or forgot about. Opened my mind or I should say my ears because they are the true guide.
I have gotten some new flicks to watch and old ones to revisit. I have also gotten some out and out belly laughs from you people. Special thanks for that. I love a good laugh (I spent half my time at school in the hallway for laughing in class. CB could have been somebody but I had a very sensitive funny bone. Impeded all that serious stuff that I was being taught. To $%**&^$ serious).
That’s it folks. I do enjoy our exchanges. So like a stray dog, if you keep feeding me I’ll be back. I might even give you a lick (That’s fricken gross man). Later Cats and Kittens.

Can you give me a big, tasty lick?
On the guitar of course…what did you think I meant?

There’s nothing that important that cannot be humerus as well. Sounds good CB, and Laurel and Hardy were masters, they’re always good for a good healthy, mental health cleaning laugh! All the best,
F.

Sarah and I did rewatch that one not too long ago. Holds up well. The one liners from Bogart slay me every time.

I was talking about that. The humor in the film is so good. Led by Humphrey. I was chuckling through the whole film. A true favorite for me.

I met someone once who had been in the French Foreign Legion – he was a vast, terrifying slab of a man (who was very nice actually), they clearly weren’t the comedy legion that Laurel and Hardy and Phil Silvers would have us believe!

I’ having a belly chuckle at that one. I watched an British film in the 70’s or 80’s ‘No Surrneder’ where the bouncer did a stint in the Legion. He spent his tour with his back to the wall afraid of getting buggered.

I thought at first you were just praising L&H. Which would be worthy. As a kid, comedy for me was Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello, Jerry Lewis, Three Stooges. And then later, Marx who, for my money, were better than all those guys.
As to CB getting busted in school, that surprises me. Not that he got busted – that he even WENT to school.

The same route then Yeah Marx, Buster and Fields.
Recess and lunchtime I excelled. I didnt go long.

Buster and Fields, sure. Harold Lloyd and Chaplin too. CB went to the school of hard knocks.

Right you are. I remembered it wrong. I thought he said it to some “dame with legs up to here.”

Love Bogie. His films used to be readily available on the tube. Now I gotta go looking for ’em.

TCM usually run his films periodically. Right after your Ethel Merman flicks.

Best movie ever that couldn’t be made today. Favorite scene; the two guys on the railroad pump car getting caught in quicksand. Laurel and Hardy were part of my Saturday viewing when I was a wee lad. Between the two of them and the three Stooges, most of the kids in our neighborhood became insufferable children. Keep em coming CB.

Between hockey and the 3 Stooges there were a lot of injured kids in my area. Love your jack rabbit pic. Good one Phil.

Yeah CB, we actually poked each other in the eyes and whacked each other on the head with shovels. It was later in our childhood we found out it was fake. It’s a good thing we never got our hands on an anvil.

Bugs Bunny was good for some ideas also. I dodged a few anvils in my day.

I read your piece on visiting Archer City a few hours ago. McMurtry and Townes, can’t get much better to an old sentimental Texan than those two fellers’. I also watched The Last Picture Show about a month ago. Wowzer..I forgot how controversial that movie was for the time. There are hundreds of Archer Cities in Texas, but they don’t have Larry.

Same page Phil. More on Mac and Last Pic Show in the near future. Maybe a ben Johnson angle.

They were showing Laurel and Hardy on German TV when I was a kid, and I always loved watching them. Humor is a good thing. It’s therapeutic, especially when times are grim. Otherwise, you might as well take a rope and get it over with!

Unique comedy. Laurel and Hardy are still popular to this day, especially by men. At least film scholars believe that men can identify with both in an ideal way. Stan and Ollie not only embody the proverbial child in men, but also develop the same ambition. I hope you will be part in “Sons of the desert”. The motto is still: “Two Minds Without a Single Thought”.

Great post dude…
Love me some Laurel and Hardy…I have neglected them recently and I’ll have to correct that! I like their silent shorts too…what I’ve seen.
It’s something about that era…Fields, Marx Brothers, Laurel and Hardy, and before them Chaplin and Keaton.

It was more a nod to all you folks that keep feeding me good stuff. Laurel and Hardy were just convenient. But yeah, we both love that stuff.
