Okay this one caught me off guard. I have no idea how I stumbled onto it but I was glad I did. It is just one really cool song. From the opening organ riff with the percussion coming in then Shirley’s unique vocals, I’m all in. Who ever came up with this idea nailed it for CB. A blend of very cool styles. The drums lay down the beat. The scratching, the big band jazz funky sound and Bassey’s husky torch singing. It works for CB.
What a great groove. I was waiting for Shirley to bust out a couple “Goldfingers” Who says different musical worlds cant come together. They did on this one. Very cool video also. Miss Bassey looks great (better than great) and just oozed confidence. Love her. The whole set of the video got caught up in the groove. So did CB.
“Well what can I say, it’s different”

The biggest voice ever to have come out of Wales – that’s some accolade.
I always liked this one and I do a great ‘Goldfinger’ on karaoke.

I knew it! That was you belting out ‘Goldfinger’. Well done fella. You were fantastic! Truth be known, CB has a crush on Shirley. The only one he’s ever had.
A proud man from Wales, I like that.

CB pulls one out of nowhere. Yes, a great tune. This was somewhat of a cult hit in my area back in the day. You’d hear in on the alternative rock stations. I certainly knew who Shirley Bassey was. Propellerheads? How they got together? Who knew? Just good stuff.

Someone with a great musical idea. I love creativity. The whole thing. From the music to the idea for the video. Bassey just stands in the middle and lets fly. Beautiful.

Propellerhead’s when you see that name you take notice!

No kidding. And then you put that with Shirley Bassey and you go “What the #@%&”. And then you catch the groove.

I remember liking this when it came out…it came out of left field…and that makes it even better…great choice.

Like I said to ME on another comment. Creative people blow me away with these kinds of ideas. It works on so many levels for me. Love it!

This is really cool!
It reminds me of Jack White producing Loretta Lynn…odd combinations that work so well.

Yeah a few of those around. Good subject. I seen a doc on Loretta. Her son liked the White album, artistically, but he wished there were bigger sales.
Now you have me thinking about all those great music collaborations.

I met her and had breakfast with her when I was 8…great lady. She didn’t treat me as a kid but a person.
Now I’m thinking…everytime I think of odd combinations…Bowie and Bing Crosby pops in my head but that was a one time thing.

Cool story. I would have guessed she’d b e like that. I havent heard the album she did with Jack.
Yeah the Bing/Bowie thing. I also think of all the people T-Bone Burnett pulls together. Plant/ Kraus for example. John Lee Hookers ‘Healer’ album. Rick Rubin with Cash. So may that work for me. Like I said it would be an idea for a take.

Have you heard Shirley Bassey’s version of Stormy Weather? I have shared it on The Happening , some time ago now, in one of the Living Legend shows. (I think) I’ll have to check which one. DQ
