Music Single: Bob Dylan – Knockin’ On Heavens Door

CB doesn’t usually pick favorite songs by artists but I will with this one. This is my favorite Bob song. I remember hearing it on the radio when it came out and instantly liking it. It has just grown over the years. What a great piece of music.

When Sam Peckinpah used it in his film ‘Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid’ it made me like it even more. A lot of music and songs have been used to enhance film scenes but none used any better than this song . Slim Pickens is gut shot and staggers off to die and his woman Katy Jurado follows and watches him. I get shivers thinking about it and watching it.

This is the song that made me like Bob. Two and a half minutes of great story telling. First Dylan album I bought was the soundtrack to the film and it’s a favorite. Did I say I like this song? I think I did.
