Music Single : Santana – Jingo

download (39)

Lets go back to the beginning of time, well not that far just back to when Santana hit the airwaves. Listen to this fantastic piece of music. Is it a jungle love dance, a war song or just a piece of great hard rock? Whatever it is CB has been grooving to it for a long time.

All that percussion just gets me moving. Then the organ comes in with that groove and then Carlos rips some licks. Yeah I can dig it. CB is up on his feet dancing around like a crazed demon ready for some kind of action.

Santana repeats that opening a couple times and it sounds fantastic. CB is getting his jungle on. I’ve been listening to this piece of music since I was a young cro magnon wandering around with Fred Flintstone looking for trouble, a young Wilma and something to throw in the boiling pot. This tune cooks.

Santana really were a great band. This is proof. Listen to a little ‘Jingo’ and get junglefied.

The original! The whole album is killer.
(I’ve been immersed in Soweto Kinch. Thanks for that)

Queen, the show # was 17a. There was no place to drop a comment so I dropped a comment on your’Funky Friday 17/05/2019′ post. It allows comments. I think we’ve been through this before. I’m not a tech guy so no idea. Don’t sweat it we will still get our thoughts across.
I see you have an Ella post that i haven’t got to. I actually heard her do Cream’s ‘Sunshine Of You Love’. I was surprised on good it was. Sometimes those things don’t work but this did for me.

Ok I’ll check it out. I don’t know the Cream tune or the Ella cut. I’ll listen to both versions on YouTube. Enjoy the rest of your day/evening.

Soon as you hear the riff you’ll know the tune. Hard rock classic (same era as this Santana tune) I’ve been listening to since the start of my musical journey and I hear Ella (totally off the wall) give it go. I thought it was very cool. Yeah you enjoy the day also and keep doing your thing.

First Santana tune I heard. I remember I went to a friend’s house and he had just bought the album…which is great in its completeness…and I got blown away by “Jingo”! Great selection CB, as always!

Good tune. But there’s probably a dozen of their early songs I could pick.

I know what you mean. I can’t now remember what it was but there was some song I like that I hadn’t heard in a while and just at the moment when I heard it it sounded just right.

        Happens all the time.
In the above comments I was relaying a Cream song to her and then I wake up this morning and our buddy Ginger is gone. I like that guy. It was always about the music.

On that note ‘Sunshine Of Your Love’ has been spinning in my head. I guess it’s time for a take. I’ve only heARD IT A MILLION TIMES AND i STILL LOVE IT. (too lazy to correct the capitals)

I’ve HEARD ‘CROSSROADS’ A MILLION TIMES AND I STILL LOVE IT. Time for a CB take on Cream. Time for ME to rewatch ‘Beware of Mr. Baker.’

Me too. Yeah I get locked into Gingers music. Your Spotify tip lets me indulge. I even like his talk/vocals. Put a microphone in front of Baker and it’s magic.

CB. true story. I have a couple of Spotify playlists that I culled from my posts. Frankly, I never remember what’s on them. I was listening to the first one (ME1 and ME2) today and guess what came up? “Jingo.” Great minds think alike. And then of course, there’s you and I.

I’m not familar with Santana. That song has a lot of spirit. i like that you can hear the different instruments/players.

(Love the “Cro Magnon” reference!) A great song, lotsa Latin soul. I have a live version, along with a pre-Woodstock version of “Soul Sacrifice” from a 1968 Fillmore show. “Fried Neckbones” is another favorite.

I like Santana’s later music, too, but like so many bands, this very early music has a rawness and excitement that’s lacking in their later, more polished compositions and performances.

Listening to ‘Neckbones’ right now. I love that lineup Pete.
I always dug Carlos and his journey. He went on a good run for the first few years but this early stuff just cooks. I agree with your last comment. I guess that’s what we strive for, perfection but I do like the loose rough surprises. Man has he been playing for a long time.

Santana’s first three albums are excellent. I’m a little sketchy on the rest.

I think I know where you stand with Santana. This early stuff is the stuff that does it for me. First few albums have a real hard edge.
I’ve been popping in to look at your takes. You must be sitting on a wack of new stuff. Good to hear from ya.

Yeah, I’ve said this a million times but I ignored Santana for over 15 years thanks to that Supernatural thing. I bought Abraxas a couple of years back after a post from Bruce (VC).

My takes might be updated soon. Might. I’m getting a bit more time just now, so getting back to catching up with stuff you guys have been writing… slowly… life got in the way for a bit.

It’s like Fleetwood Mac. The early stuff is where i live. I remember Bruce’s take. A good one.
Take care of business you can always catch up on this stuff.
