So many things come into play to make this a CB favorite. Including Sam Sheppard, Ry Cooder , Wim Wenders, Harry Dean Stanton, Dean Stockwell and some beautiful cinematography. I love motion pictures like this. Maybe you will too.
I’m handing this review over to Spoilt Victorian Child because I’m lazy and because I really like the take. SPV and CB hit common ground here. Thanks for the words Child!

Heard of this, never saw it. This one leaps to the top of the list I think given the talent involved. (In that picture over on the reviewer’s site, that shot of (I assume) Nastassja Kinski looks exactly like a gal I know. Beautiful.)
BTW, we watched “Green Book” last night. I recall your turning me on to Don Shirley and that flick a while back. And then it goes and wins Best Picture! Excellent movie. Not overdone, heartfelt, great acting. I found it amusing that the soundtrack – other than when Shirley was playing – was ’60s era R&B and rock and roll and not jazz. I listened to some Shirley on Spotify today. Really nice stuff.

‘Paris Texas’ is beautifully shot. That screen grab is a taste. Yeah Kinski and Harry Dean were a strange pairing but it works. One of the reasons these type of films appeal to me. Hollywood mainstream would never cast those two together. A little to real.
I thought Viggo was really good. When he ate he didn’t mess around. That was kinda interesting on the soundtrack. I liked it. Shirley is good. His classical training comes through. You know I like a little grease on my listening.

A very striking flick. Cooder’s soundtrack is exceptional. Probably one of my most played LPs.

I have a Cooder recording of all his soundtrack work. I put that on and let it take me.

That’d be a great set. I’ve been looking for a couple of the LPs, but don’t see them too often in the wild. Certainly not over here.
