Quick Hit : Pearl Jam – Ten

This music grabbed me right away. It was like a rock n roll attack. Hard driving music. I’ve always liked hard, loud rock and Pearl Jam gave me a load of it. This first album doesn’t waste any time getting to it. Music with a big sound.

I could have picked any of the first few albums by PJ but why not the one I heard first. CB already had lots of tunes to listen to but when a band with music like this explodes onto the map I was taken in. Lots of great guitar, solid rhythm section and a perfect voice for their sound. These guys are solid and brought their sound to the music world. I love the build and release with the guitar solos and Vedder’s vocals. another guy who substitutes moans, screams and wails for lyrics. He’s feeling something.

There isn’t one cut on the album that didn’t do it for me. They pull out a song like ‘Black’, slow it down but you can feel the energy in the band, it wants to bust out. This music has power, energy and emotion to it. They even throw in a story song ( CB went to school with a kid who bit people at recess). Great tune. Great band, great album.

Lots of things I like about this band but the big thing for me is they rock hard. Don’t know where they draw their influences from but they pull them together to make their own music. They fit in nicely in my music pile.
