Movie : Snap Review – No Country For Old Men

We get some narration over top of some great camera shots of Texas hard country. We see a man arrested by the side of the road in this setting. He’s taken in to the Cop station where he kills the cop, escapes kills another man with a air powered  bolt pistol. We’re not even 5 minutes in. We cut to another man out hunting in this same country. He comes across a drug deal gone bad with several dead bodies and abandoned trucks  at the scene. He finds the money that was involved. 2 Millions dollars. He decides to “Do something dumb as hell” and keep the money. Things go bad real quick with him being pursued by the people involved in the slaughter. Plus he crosses paths with our air tank carrying friend in the other scenes.

CB absolutely loves this film. So many of my favorite genres combined with great filmmaking come together. The Coens ( I like their work. This one the best) draw us into Llewellyn’s “Do something dumb as hell” decision. Beautifully shot, directed, scored, acted. Not one week performance. Brolin, Jones, Bardem, Macdonald are real good.

Countless great scenes add up to make a great flick. If the scene where Llewellyn gets chased by the dog doesn’t get your blood going I don’t know what will. Game on!

Cat and mouse in a violent modern western, thriller, crime film. Great adaptation of  the Cormac McCarthy book. It’s always up for a rewatch. Top notch. If some half dead killer in a bullet ridden pick up asks for “agua” think twice before you get him some.
