Movie : Snap Review/Guest Review – The Proposition

CB is going to defer to keepsmealive on this one. I’ve already seen this flick a couple of times but after reading the review below I’m going to watch it again. They don’t make good dusters anymore? Bullshit. Check this one out. So much for a movie guy like CB to like. Oh yeah, no punches pulled on this one.

We’re spreading the word for the best reason, because we like the film. A lot!. Great take on your part.

One of my all time favourite movies, CB. Top 5. Easy. And there’s not a soul to like of the bunch.

It really is a good film. I could imagine people cringing about some of the directors choices. love when filmmakers do it their way. Nothing like capturing the beauty and violence of a hard country. One image and sound that sticks with me is the flies.

Yeah, the flies are something that’s missing from a load of those old scorched cowboy flicks. I remember watching westerns with my old man and thinking “I’d love to be a rancher, prospector, cowboy or tavern dweller back then”, but there’s nothing about The Proposition that makes you think “I’d love to be around back then”… grim… eerie… horrendous.

As the years went on they started getting more gritty and violent. Then there was a revival of pretty westerns and then a film like this comes along and does it right again.

Speaking of westerns, have you seen The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada?

Tommy Lee does some good stuff and ‘3 Burials’ fits that. Loved that film.

Yeah, he does. He has a heaviness about him… can add grit and sadness with some badassery. I have The Homesman here that I still need to watch.

I was going to mention the ‘Homesman’ Let me know what you think. I liked a lot about it. We can discuss it after you watch. I won’t color your view. I want to watch it again.

I’ll let you know, aye. Looks like it could be great… good casting, too.

I watched Jane Got A Gun a few months ago and though that Joel Edgerton was a pretty decent. You seen The Duel?

J, I wasn’t thinking. How about a guest take for ‘The 3 Burials Of Melquiades’? That would be cool (plus save lazy ass CB). I know your busy but anything you can come up with from a short snapper to Tolstoy would be fantastic. Spreading the word on this great film would be good karma and i can use all of that that I can get. No pressure, when ever it works if it does. No obligation just throwing it out there. Thanks.

My favorite scene is when Barry Pepper is watching the soap opera with the Mexicans and starts to cry.

I reckon I’d be up for that, CB… a short snapper about one of my favourite flicks? Yessir. Leave it with me… I’ll drop you a line with some blabberings for sure. At some point.

An exceptional film and I thought Pepper was brilliant. He genuinely looked broken at times. In fact, they’re all brilliant…

Nothing better than asking someone to do something and they take it on. Thanks J. With all the films/music that I feature there are no duds, they all have something special for my tastes. Always good to share these gems.

Yeah how ever it works I’m cool with it. Our old buddy Levon Helm makes an appearance. Him and Tommy Lee met up on Coal Miners daughter.

It’s a rough and dirty ride Doc. keepsmealive caught it pretty good in his review. No Hollywood cheese in this one.
