This song just cooks. The boys from Double Trouble lay it down while Charlie and Doyle do their thing. Love this cut. Hard driving piece of no bullshit rock n roll. Charlie sings it like he means it. Bramhall rips off some great solos. Tonio K a CB fave had a hand in the writing

Really can’t say more than that. A good piece of hard rock that CB can listen to all day. Yeah CB has woken up in the bushes before. Even slept on a few lawns. These guys wrote a song about it.

Simple, if ya fall, just get back up!

    I didn’t know about this band. They really tear into this song. The singer and drummer exchange glances at the start. I think the singer realized he wasn’t ready to start singing when he was supposed to. That’s the kind of thing that happens in real life a lot.

      The singer, Charlie Sexton has been around a while. These guys joined up after Stevie Ray Vaughan passed if my memory is working. They still might have been working things out. I think Charlie is with Dylan now or has been.

    Wow, that’s hot. I know these guys individually and with SRV but the Arc Angels were way under my radar. Came and went I guess.

      Burn out fast. That guitar sound by Doyle is obviously inspired by SRV but he is good in his own right. Being the axeman you are you would appreciate it plus just the subject matter of the song fits a certain book I read recently. Charlie is in the Dylan using great players in his band category. Plus the Texas thing. Lots of great blues from that state.

        I’ve been learning to play a lot- and I mean a lot – of SRV lately, so yeah I know about that. Texas is key in the blues – T-Bone, the Vaughans, Johnny Winter, Johnny Copeland, Billy Gibbons, Music Enthusiast. Etc.

        Now I’m going to listen to Smokin Joe for 8 hrs a day. Man is that good! Heard his name but not his playing. That is what CB calls “no bullshit music”. Give me one (if you can) album that I can start my initiation

        Give me a chance to go home and dust off my records. I’ll get back to ya. So between Zep and Kubek that’ 16 hours a day. Give the gal 1/2 hour in there somewhere, catch some sleep and you’re back in action!

        Don’t over think the Kubek thing but thanks for that. As far as my gal goes I’m in the doghouse so I can fill up her half hour with something else. (I’m still chuckling.)

    This is amazing, CB. I’ve never heard of them (heard Charlie’s name, but don’t think I know any of his stuff… and I’ve heard Shannon and Layton with SRV, but I had no idea they did this). I need to hear more of this… pretty much now. Or real soon.

      I just have their first album, like it a lot. I’d never seen the cut I posted before. I was just going to post the studio cut (which is great) but I loved Doyles wicked solos on this one. Some real good no bullshit music here.

        Started listening to that Living In a Dream album… it’s pretty good. A live one isn’t a bad place to start, I guess.

        I went to a Giant Sand show and someone yelled out for a song and Howe said “We already payed it”. That ended that.

        Man, he’s Tucson’s Dylan, huh? I’d love to see Giant Sand play. I’ve missed Howe a few times over the years, but seeing Giant Sand would be something else.

        It was along time ago and there were about ten of us in the club. I took a poster off the wall. Still have it up in my music room. It was when they released ‘Glum’

        I have only discussed this band and it’s spin offs with 1 or 2 other people. 3 and counting. You and hotfox steered me to Ranier Ptacek.

        I think I told you I’m changing things up in a bit and start featuring some of these bands and people i’d discovered later in my musical trip. Giant Sand is near the top of the list.

    Ok, so from my vinyl pile, two albums of Smokin’ Joe Kubek. One was – no surprise – a live album called “My Heart’s in Texas.” Live in Fort Worth on New Year’s Eve so you know that’s hot. There’s another good one called “Show Me the Money.” He often performed (Joe is, alas no longer with us) with a guy named Bnois King. I found a YouTube compilation you can snuggle up to for a while.

      Don’t know to much history on these guys. Around that time I was starting to do less reading and more listening. Yes it’s a good album. I still spin it. They just seemed to fade away.
