This song has been walking around in CB’s head for a while (Like all good songs do). Nothing I like better than a good stroll. Anytime anyplace CB will head outside and set his head right. I was reading Yeah, Another Blogger’s take a while ago. He was taking a walk around Philly and I went with him (In spirit). So this song is kinda to Neil and all you walkers (or anybody else) out there.
John Prine has been with CB a long time. I’ve never met the man (Seen quite a few of his shows) but he feels like an old friend. Lets just say I like his style. The world needs more John Prine’s. I could (and will) have featured any number of his songs, he has a trunk full of my favorites. ‘Taking A Walk ‘ is classic John. It has everything I love about the guy in the song. I love this song and I love John. I feel good when I hear this one.
So when things get to be to much or you just feel good or you want to get some fresh air or you just say “I’m going for a walk”, CB will be with you.
( The John Prine Walking Club : Members in good standing – Yeah, Another Blogger, Aunt Beulah, greenpete58, Fats Domino, Jack Scott, Rufus Thomas, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Lou Reed, Bruce Springsteen. Robert Johnson, Neil Young, Dan Hicks, The Diamonds, Cincinnati Babyhead ….. Membership open. Good attitudes and some good bullshit are the requirements )
I think I’ll take a walk. Go outside. Don’t need a ride. Watch the birds.
His debut is amazing.

Yes it is. Not a bad cut. I think I’ll go for a walk and listen to it. I’ve listened to those songs to many times to count and they still get me. ‘Hello In There’ is a treasure. Bonnie Raitt does a killer version of ‘Angel From Montgomery’

It’s kind of funny – I keep saying country isn’t in my core wheelhouse, yet it seems that when listening to a country tune more often than not I like it. Of course, country had become such a broad genre that it’s even hard to define it these days.
This song certainly is very soothing. I can totally see how it can take your mind of stuff that’s in your head. Very nice!

John is one of those guys that record stores didn’t know where to put. I think I might have put him under Folk/Rock. lets just put him under good and take a walk.

Amazing. We do need more John Prines. The guy knows how to write a tune… exceptional tunes.

Such a cool guy also. I think he spends time in Ireland. I hear it sneaking into his music. I love the guy.

Thanks for the name-drop, CB. How can you not love Prine? “Some Humans Ain’t Human” will probably be on my tombstone. We do need more like JP, people with humanity and wit who ain’t afeard to call out the BS.

You’re probably on a hike right now. The song you mentioned was a shot at old George W (and a few others) wasn’t it?
You said it. “Humanity and wit”. If I can aspire to half of what he brings I’m doing good. He’s lived a pretty full life so I don’t think he suffers to much BS. Lets get the JP club together for a walk and little of that “Humanity and wit”

I wouldn’t call myself a big Prine guy but this is a nice tune.

You and that keen ear of yours again. Prine was one of the many people that the Bob thing shows up in the music. Get those new sneakers on Doc and lets go for a hoof!
Prine live is always good. He always has crack players.

BTW, am I the only one who hears a bit of ‘Lay Lady Lay’ in this?

This member of the walking club, thank you very much, walked in the warm springtime air of Southern Illinois early this morning accompanied by friendly cardinal that flitted ahead of me from one blooming tree to another..

I went for stroll a couple days ago and a crow came down and “flitted” in my hair. First time that’s happened. Put a smile on my face.We will have to check in with these stories at the next meeting of the ‘JP Walking Club’.
