Where does CB start with one of his all time favorite singers. Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Star, that’s where. If I never heard this song it wouldn’t be overstating that something would be missing in my life. When I started this CB music/film thing it was all about sharing pieces that I dug. Well this song is near the top. I can’t really explain it (and that’s a good thing) other than it just puts me into a good space and I love it.
He throws in a nice guitar lick and then a trombone(?) and it all works combined with the easy beat, piano and that voice. It’s like the old saying “Music soothes the savage beast”. Needless to say CB is a Merle freak.
No matter what style of music you like give this a listen and see if it grabs you. No one talked me into liking Merle. I guess his voice did. They categorize this as country, I would say it’s just damn good whatever you want to call it. We all have those specials songs. This is one of those for CB.
“Hey twinkle twinkle lucky star can you send me luck from where you are..”

Posting this take sent me off on a Merle listening fest. You have CB’s curious side wondering, Hmmm what Merle was J listening to?

Another great Haggard tune. A cousin to ‘Twinkle’. I think I’ll go listen to it. CB has seen some great live gigs over the years but seeing Merle and the Strangers was a high-lite.

I would have loved to have seen Merle. He’s right up there with the best of them.
