Single : I Hear You Knocking – Dave Edmunds

download (3)

CB’s ears perked up when this one came on the radio.  What a great piece of rock n roll music.  It put me into an instant good mood.  Everything was put on hold until this song was done and CB quit grooving.  It was like a time out to rock a bit.

Just love the sound of the guitar right off the top then Dave’s voice and the lyrics.  A rock a billy country twang that was right up CB’s alley.  This song just sounds great!  The thing is, Edmunds is enjoying himself.  Great one Dave.  You caught some lightning!  Timeless rock n roll.  CB jumped on the Dave Edmund’s band wagon for life.

“You went away left me a long time ago..”

(Check out the original by Smiley Lewis and another great version by Fats Domino. You can hear Dave call out their names in the song along with a couple others)

“I hear you knocking” from 1970. Very good! Dave Edmunds is a crazy type – kind of extreme! He plays an excellent lead guitar. Rockabilly, Blues with “Love Sculpture” and classical pieces like Khachaturian’s “Sabre dance”.

Oh yeah! I mentioned to Thom (Immortal Jukebox) that the first album of Dave’s that I got was ‘Get It’. I then went on a binge for all his stuff.

Yes, we love us some Dave Edmunds. He has that authentic sound and would not have been out of place in the Fifties.

I’ve been on a bit of a listening party since your ‘Rockpile’ take. See how you influence me Doc. I’ll follow you anywhere.

Was recently on a Nick Lowe binge which naturally got me in an Dave Edmunds mood. The Rockpile album is one of my faves. https://open.spotify.com/album/0dkVeZHLACjaN92aUHwu02?si=45tbAxq1

I discovered Dave first then Nick (Pure Pop) and Lowe and behold they were buddies and made great music. Nick is doing some real good stuff lately hotfox63 featured one of his newer albums. Real good! These guys have so much good music in them.

He is from your neck of the woods. Dave’s holds a special place in CB’s music world. Started with this song.

Yeah Dave’s version is a tribute to Smiley, Fats and all the stuff he listened to. That’s CB’s guess anyway.
