Movie Scene : One Flew Over the Cukoo’s Nest – Turkle Hides

The patients are having a little late night going away party.  The night orderly, Turkle is making his rounds and tries to break it up.  He starts to herd the patients out of the nurses room and quickly herds them back in when he hears the night supervisor coming.  The nurse knows something’s up and starts to call Turkle’s name.  She gets no response.  We cut to the nurses room where everyone is hiding in the dark.  There are whispered conversations going on, wondering why Turkle doesn’t answer. He doesn’t answer because he’s hiding with the patients.  He finally goes out to face the music.

CB laughs his head off every time he thinks of this scene.  The whispered conversation in the dark, crowded nurses room is priceless. “He’s probably jerking off”.  Scatman Crothers is beautiful as Turkle.  His delivery and commitment to the scene is perfect.  Totally out of his element trying to get the shit storm together.  Give yourself a treat and pile into the nurses station with Scatman and the gang.  It is one funny scene.

He’s having a bad day (or night) at his “fucking job!”  Priceless.
