Here’s a song to go with ‘CB and Riff City’ and 1537’s take on Fu Manchu.  It stays with the driving/road/car thing.  Robert Gordon is another favorite of CB’s.  This song is typical Gordon stuff.  Old school rock n roll souped up with some great hard playing.  It will get your motor running.  Robert always teamed up with great players and on this one he has Danny Gatton manning the guitar.  Gatton doesn’t play a bad lick.  I could go on about how much I dig this music but just take my word for it, I like it.  Robert Gordon came my way via Bruce Springsteen way back in the olden days.  Like I said, it fits with ‘Riff City’.

CB hall of famer, Robert Gordon.  I really like this guy’s style.

    Traditionally, in a good sense. I like the Chris Speeding guitar boogie lines – it’s reall rockin.

    Great tune. Gordon seems to have managed to stay a fringe player. What’s he up to now I wonder?

      Probably hanging in NY rocking. Doc are you familiar with Danny Gatton the guitarist in this cut. I think it would interest you. Being on the guitar kick. Bit tragic in the rock n roll way. Link Wray, Chris Spedding and Danny Gatton 3 great guitarists that played with Robert.

        Yeah, I’m pretty familiar with all of them to some degree. Gatton especially was considered the guitarist’s guitarist.

        Gatton was with Gordon on SCTV when they did ‘Someday Someway’. It was a funny bit.

    Funny about ‘Rumble.’ I got in the habit of playing that intro. Then my friend Bill came over and I said ‘Remember this one?’ He said yeah, what is that again? And for the life of me, I couldn’t remember the name of it. I kept thinking it was ‘Raunchy.’ Took me a while to dig it up. It came out during the ’50’s era we love but I didn’t know it till the early rockers talked about it.

      Your not going to believe this but CB is a big Link Wray guy. Surprise huh? That’s a cool story about the intro. Come Mr. Trivia ‘Raunchy’ was who?

        Pretty sure it was Bill Justis. Sun Records guy. Maybe we should co-pro a guitar piece down the road. Cover the whole spectrum.

    Huh! Never heard of that documentary. You know I dig those. You reminded me of a band that used to get some airplay, Native American band Indigenous. Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re in that doc. Check this out.

    Agreed with the SRV influence, CB. Damn fine band. I won’t kid you and say I saw ’em or bought all their records or they were a huge deal. But they came around in the late ’90’s when FM radio around these parts was still in business with three or four good stations. They popped in and out of my head one day and your (and Pete’s) Native American stuff reminded me of them. I’m happy to report they’re still around. I’ll follow them online and I would definitely go see them. That music right there is one of the neighborhoods I could move into for quite some time.

      Like I said I’m immersed in the native thing and this is cool because it’s not so much traditional like Robbie Robertson’s take (which I dig also). I will check out more and add it to what I have.

      Robert (Link Wray, Chris Spedding) cut some great albums. I love it all. He turned me onto a lot of the original rockabilly guys. I’m a walking Robert Gordon jukebox.
