Single : Do You Know What I Mean? – Lee Michaels

Another one of those songs that came on the radio once in a while that made listening worth while for CB.  A cool piano intro, little drums, then Lee comes in with the vocal and organ.  An instant classic for Babyhead.   Irresistible.  One of those catchy rock tunes that sticks like glue.

Everything about this song works but it’s Lee’s delivery and attitude that sell it.  Lee caught some magic here.   He’s handling the break up pretty good.  You gotta love his little owl imitation.   A fave.

“Her and Bobby were stepping out”  It’s too late Lee, “do you know what i mean?”

I always wondered if Springsteen was inspired by Lee.

Interesting. I remember when i first started listening to Springsteen, he use to bring out these nuggets like ‘Flamingo’ ‘Quarter to Three’ ‘It’s My Life’ etc. He was a bit of a walking jukebox. This tune kinda has that similar groove. I never twigged that but yeah I hear it big-time. Good one.
