CB Takes a Cigar Break

CB is going to take a cigar break and shake things up a bit.

CB started putting his takes on music and film out into the ozone just for the hell of it.  He did it for no other reason than to “speak his mind” on films and music that have appealed to his personal taste.  That’s it.  He is not an aspiring writer, critic, expert, scholar, any of those good things.  Just a lover of cool music and  great flicks.  Along the way he has had other lovers of these two genres chime in with their personal takes.  That has been a bonus.  I have enjoyed every comment that you cats and kittens have left.

But here’s the deal.  I have checked out your various writings on the same subjects (and others) and have come away with reminders of music and film I haven’t listened too or watched for a while, new discoveries,  insights that I didn’t know, etc…  Your personal experiences are what interest me.  How the music/film moved you, inspired.  Memories of the first time you saw or heard a particular piece. Just your overall passion and love for them.  I get to hear and see through your eyes and ears.  That’s the kick!  I’ve taken something from everyone of you.  I even had a few laughs and learned how to swear.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. This is how it works for me.  I was over on catchgroove digging Axl’s stuff.  I came to a take on some album he found ‘K-Tel Funky Hits’, something like that.  I was going to skim past it but stopped for a look.  He featured a song from the album that CB has been looking for, for years.  I didn’t know the title, artist, nothing.  I knew the groove and the feel of the lyrics but no details.  It was an old AM tune from way back.  And there it was at my finger tips.  Man, it was like finding a long lost memory.

‘Why Can’t We Live Together?’ by Timmy Thomas.  It sounded just as good as I remembered it.

So you are all stuck with Cincinnati Babyhead.  I’m like a stray dog that you’ve all fed.  Thanks for doing the DO.  I’m heading over to Charlie’s place now to smoke a cigar and listen to him practice his bass.
