Singles : Princess Falda’s Old Time Faves

download

CB is going to break it up for this take.  Just because.

About 20 years ago, CB was sitting around doing nothin (as usual), bitching about the state of music on the radio.  “Turn that shit off” or “Nothing but shit comes out of that box” something along those lines.

Roughly two weeks later, Princess Falda (CB’s daughter) threw a CD on CB’s lap and said “Quit your bitchn Babyhead”.

So here’s the playlist of what Falda put together for dear old CB.  I still give it a spin now and then.  (Just listened to it recently and was inspired to write this)

I do love that Princess Falda.

The Princess has got good taste. Not a clunker on here. Those were the good old days. I’m going to be doing a series called “The Indispensable 150” that she – and maybe especially you – should like. Some of these are on there. I won’t say which ones. The Music Enthusiast likes to hold things in reserve to create an air of, shall we say, mystery. As to your list, you just might want to create it on Spotify or some such.

Thanks Jim and I’m already looking forward to the “Indispensable 150”. Princess Falda will be doing flips off the top rope. CB would love to do “Spotify” but he doesn’t even know what it means. (Falda went and got herself engaged to a Roller Derby guy last night).

The Princess will probably be able to set you up on Spotify in, like, two seconds. As to the Roller Derby guy, look on the bright side. At least he’s got a job! 😂

Great playlist. I highly suggest a great The Searchers album https://www.discogs.com/Searchers-The-Searchers/release/2854772 I see it a lot used for a couple of bucks. This was a reunion album on Sire (pretty hip label for and oldies act). Very cool album foreshadowing new wave pop.

Thanks Axl, Princess Falda nailed it. I will check your recommendation out for sure. I peeked at the link you sent and see where Tom Petty wrote one of the tunes. It was through Petty that I opened my ears to the Searchers. I have just one eight song 10 inch long play by them. ‘Love Lies Bleeding’. Cool little record.

Fun list (though I can’t quite see how Van Halen snuck in there!). Some smiles guaranteed!

“Some smile guaranteed!” Lets spread some of that around. Van Halen? Last time I questioned the Princess I ended up in a headlock.

Princess Falda is a very bright lady. Time to quit your bitchin about music in front of her CB. But you can bitch and moan here for us because we all know how bad music is now days and has been for YEARS!

Yeah I stopped the bitchin, takes too much energy. I have lots of good music to listen too. Now with my sources like ‘Forgotten Rock Classics’ and others I’m in good shape. Princess Falda knows her stuff and knows what CB likes. More to come from her. (Had a peek at your latest piece, CB was a fan of a few of those folks).

CB, take a peek at my site when U get a chance. Just posted the first in a series whose songs make geezers like us very happy. A couple of your (not to mention Falda’s) tunes are there.

I figured you’d weigh in on this one. Yeah some definite “Immortals”. Some you have already “spun” on that box of yours. Looking forward to more takes on ‘IJ’. Nice to meet up with cool people on this musical ride. Later Thom.
