Speaks his mind on music & movies!
Babyhead is going to keep this short and sweet.
Lots to like. The look, the feel, the dialogue. The characters. Spade, Cairo, Gutman, O’Shauhnessy, Wilmer, Effie. Huston’s direction and screenplay. Edeson’s camera work. Hammett’s story.
The performances. Greenstreet, Lorre, Astor, Elisha Cook Jr. etc. Perfection. Firing on all cylinders. Oh Yeah, Bogart too.
Lots going on, confussion and twists. Babyhead tried to keep up while he was enjoying what the characters were up to.
“When you’re slapped, you’ll take it and like it”
What a group of slimeballs. What a group of great characters brought to life by some of the best. Lorre crying at the end. What a beauty. Put this cast together and turn on the camera.
Turn out the lights, get comfortable and go looking for ” The Bird”. Great film. Watch it and you decide.
Oh yeah, if you’re trying to stay off cigarettes, cigars, booze, lying and other questionable behavior, be warned because you will be tempted to pick up these habits.
Like Gutman said “If you lose a son it’s possible to get another. There is only one Maltese Falcon”
